So I went to New Orleans this weekend to watch the HaRD KNocks play against the Big Easy Rollergirls.
Left for my favorite-est city around 2pm on Friday, which put me into New Orleans around 845pm (after having to sit in an hour long traffic jam just outside of Houston).
On the way to New Orleans (in Sulphur Louisiana) I saw a guy taking a dump on the side of the road (well, assuming that he was doing that...didnt actually see anything except bare ass when he stood up).
Of course after visiting with Kelly and her family (thats who we were staying with) we ventured into the Quarter to hit our favorite places...ran into West (lives in NoLA), Scar Wars + Jason, Goldie BloXX, Ajax, Mudflap Girl (NoLA), Becky Booty and various Derby Brothers.  Ran around with them hitting up the Dungeon (where someone offered $50 and a carton of cigarettes to take me home haha), Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop  the home of the infamous Voodoo Daquiri (bourbon + everclear + something else = something yummy and jolly rancher tasting that will fuck me up :D ) and Court Tavern Po-Boy shop...mmmmm!!!
It was a good first night.
Saturday:
Went into the quarter to experience it day-time...went into walgreens on decatur where we ran into the infamous "God Warrior" from Trading Spouses....NO JOKE!!!  She didnt go off on us or anyone (thankfully) but that face is just one that is unmistakable!
After there we went to St. Louis Cemetery #1 to pay our respects and visit Marie Laveau, like we always do.
After we finished up in the quarter, we went to the derby game (after going through a DT daquiri shop on the way haha) and had a blast there.
Went back to Kelly's house afterwards and hung out with her and the family (her mom made AMAZING red beans and rice and got the BEST chicken EVER from this little place called Manchu).  And of course, we headed back to the quarter.
Sarah and I ran around for a bit, eventually settling at Lafitte's again, and waiting for the rest of the derby girls to make their way to the quarter.
By the time we met up with them, I was toasted, so I dont remember much, so hopefully there will be some photos soon.
*sigh*
I am home now...sad to leave the city I love so much once again (NoLA) but seriously thinking about moving there in a year or so.
we will see i guess....

So we can all obviously see that I'd much rather be playing online than packing...
>.<
I am almost done....all that is left is all of my clothes, my computer desk, and taking all of the trash I've bagged up down to the dumpster...
Im not touching my closets....well, maybe I'll go through them and get all of the boxes out, but that is the least of my worries right now.
Lets keep all fingers crossed that I get everything done before 8am tomorrow.

its over...

I have been so excited to be graduating in December, that the semester seriously flew by...
It hit me earlier today when I walked out of my portfolio final that Im done....
...
for reals, Im done...
...
fucking scary as hell!
I went to "photo-phrenzy" tonight...a semester ritual event put on by the photo department where everyone puts their best work up on the walls for everyone to see...an informal gallery of sorts.  For me, its really just a social hour...
I left there realizing that its the last one that I will ever go to, as a student.  I say that because its not uncommon for people who have graduated from the SHSU photo department to show up from time to time...however all of my friends either graduated ahead of me, or are graduating with me with no intention of coming or looking back.  I doubt that I'll return.

Im sad.

Not sad that Im graduating....Im ecstatic about that...but Im sad that I didnt take in everything that I could and should have...that I didnt make strong connections with more people that can be a huge help later on down the line.  I didnt burn any bridges, but I certainly didnt go out of my way to build them around here.  I guess Im sad I never really made a lasting mark on this place.

The only thing I have to worry about finishing before I walk across the stage on December 20 is doing a final edit on my art history paper, and turning that in....which I intend on doing by Monday before I go to sleep.

Maybe Im scared what my future as a photographer holds; scared that I've wasted this much time and money on something that maybe Im not as good at as I thought I was; scared about falling flat on my face when I do take a chance.

But I guess we'll just see what happens....

It truly is amazing how many feelings I can have at once.
1. Frustration: being bitched at for someone else's mistakes and having it all turned around on me even though it was HER lack of communication
2. Happiness: IM FINALLY FUCKING GRADUATING!! (though I am bummed that I cannot go to destination graduation tomorrow because of work)
3. Sleeply: its raining outside and all I want to do is go to sleep
4. Overwhelmed: I have until Friday at noon to finish stupid derby stats, I need to clean out my car to go camping this weekend, Starbucks jipped me half of my last paycheck and now I only have $5 to last me until I get paid again?! I dont think so.

And thats all I can really think of right now.
